Sheet Music Catalogue is built around a simple principle: your catalogue is yours, and it stays on your device. The app requires no account, no sign-up, and collects no personal information.
Everything you enter in the app — your pieces, composers, books and collections, practice sessions, performances, favourites, notes, and settings — is stored only in the app's private storage on your device. It is never uploaded to us or anyone else. Uninstalling the app deletes this data.
The app can create a backup file on your device and lets you export or share a copy (for example to your own cloud drive or email). Where an exported backup goes is entirely your choice; we never receive it.
When you choose to look up a book or its contents, the app sends only the search text you typed (or the scanned ISBN, and the book's title/composer) to our server, which queries public book databases (Open Library, Google Books) and, for the "find the pieces in this book" feature, a web search and an AI service to read publicly available pages. To keep the service fast, the server may cache the result of a book-contents lookup — the book's title, authors, publisher, and its publicly available list of pieces. This cache contains only public information about books, shared by all users of the app; it contains nothing about you or your device.
If you never use online lookup, the app works fully offline and sends nothing at all.
The iOS contents-photo feature is optional. Before a photo is sent, the app asks you to confirm that it may send the image to our AI processing service to transcribe the printed contents. Do not photograph personal information. Our server does not persist the image; it is used only to obtain the transcription. The processing service handles the image under its own terms and retention practices, which we do not control or make promises about. You can instead type or paste the contents list without sending a photo.
Book details shown by the lookup feature (titles, authors, publishers, and cover images) come from public book databases (Open Library, Google Books) and publicly available web pages. This information is displayed for reference so you can catalogue your own printed music; the app does not provide or reproduce any sheet music itself.
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
If the app's behaviour ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this page and the effective date above before the change ships.
